1. Strategic Leadership Develop and implement the annual Engineering and Maintenance strategy aligned with hotel business objectives. Establish departmental goals, performance targets, and service standards. Provide leadership and direction to the Chief Maintenance and engineering team. Create continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence. Drive innovation and efficiency throughout the maintenance function. Participate as a member of the hotel's leadership team. 2. Asset Management Develop and maintain a comprehensive asset management plan. Ensure the preservation and enhancement of all physical assets. Identify aging equipment and infrastructure requiring replacement or refurbishment. Establish long-term asset lifecycle programs. Create annual Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plans. Recommend investments that improve reliability, efficiency, and guest experience. Financial Management Develop and manage the annual Engineering and Maintenance budget. Prepare and monitor CAPEX and OPEX expenditures. Ensure cost control measures are implemented without compromising quality. Analyze operating costs and identify efficiency opportunities. Approve maintenance contracts and service agreements within authorized limits. Prepare financial justifications for major projects and equipment replacement. 4. Engineering Governance and Oversight Ensure preventive maintenance programs are developed and effectively implemented by the Chief Maintenance. Review maintenance performance indicators regularly. Monitor equipment reliability and system availability. Evaluate root causes of recurring failures and implement corrective strategies. Ensure proper documentation and engineering records are maintained. Oversee engineering audits and inspections. 5. Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure full compliance with: Local regulations Fire and life safety standards Environmental requirements Occupational health and safety legislation Catalonia corporate standards Chair or support safety committee meetings. Review risk assessments and mitigation plans. Ensure emergency preparedness plans are established and periodically tested. Lead compliance inspections with government authorities. 6. Sustainability & Energy Management Lead the hotel's sustainability strategy. Monitor energy and water consumption trends. Develop programs to reduce utility costs and environmental impact. Establish KPIs for resource efficiency. Support Catalonia sustainability objectives and ESG commitments. Evaluate renewable energy opportunities where feasible. 7. Project Management Lead major hotel renovation and refurbishment projects. Coordinate engineering input during new developments and upgrades. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Monitor contractor performance and project quality. Approve technical specifications for equipment procurement. Conduct project close-out reviews. 8. Vendor and Contractor Management Select, evaluate, and manage external contractors and service providers. Negotiate maintenance contracts and service agreements. Monitor contractor compliance with hotel policies. Conduct supplier performance reviews. Ensure contractor works meet applicable safety and quality standards. 9. Leadership & Talent Development Develop succession plans for key engineering positions. Mentor and coach the Chief Maintenance. Identify technical training requirements. Conduct performance evaluations. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, innovation, and safety. Support employee engagement initiatives. 10. Guest Experience Support Ensure engineering standards contribute to exceptional guest satisfaction. Review maintenance-related guest complaints and identify trends. Support operational departments during peak business periods. Ensure minimal disruption during maintenance and renovation activities. Maintain property appearance and functionality in line with Catalonia standards.

Requirements

Education Required Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Services Engineering, or related field. Preferred Master's degree in engineering management or business administration. Experience Minimum 15 years of engineering or maintenance experience within hospitality Industry. Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role within hospitality, resorts, or large mixed-use facilities. Luxury hotel or international resort experience. Multi-property maintenance leadership experience.
